About Chris Southern
Chris' experience in computers started in 1987 when he got a summer job at Springer-Miller Systems installing networked workstations in hotels in Stowe Vermont. While in high school Chris took numerous other consulting jobs around New England developing software for specific needs.
After high school Chris attended Rochester Institute of Technology where he earned his Bachelors in Computer Science. While in college Chris interned for Cabletron Systems in their Network Management Software Group. During Chris' final year at RIT he teamed up with Lawrence Sterne to create one of first financial e-commerce websites, Wall Street Research Net (WSRN.com).
While Chris was starting WSRN.com, he worked for Questra Consulting where he designed and implemented enterprise client/server web systems for Fortune 500 Companies such as Kodak, Xerox, First Union Bank and MCI. In 1997 he left Questra Consulting to work at WSRN.com full time.
WSRN.com was sold in 1999 to internet.com. At internet.com Chris took on the role of Director of Technology for the company. Chris' group was responsible for new development for over 100 sites as well as developing back end e-commerce systems for the company.
In 2001 Chris left internet.com to pursue new ventures. During the last couple of years Chris has developed a new e-commerce system for websites. The new system is being used by numerous companies to process online sales. In addition Chris has been helping small businesses and local residents with their computer needs.
